Thanh Xuan HIV Clinic

Established in 2009 to provide a home and medical treatment for HIV-infected children, the Thanh Xuan clinic has taken care of nearly 400 children who were born with this deadly virus. Some of them were only a few days old, abandoned at the hospital or outside the clinic, but most of them are sent to the clinic as orphans.

With government support, the clinic provides the kids with basic clothes, rooms and boards, books, and HIV treatment medicines including ARV drugs. In addition, they are encouraged to build their self-esteem, taught social skills, and practical vocations. The kids attend regular schools to gradually integrate into society once they are 18 and healthy enough to return to the community. If they get admitted to colleges, they can remain at the clinic until they complete the degree. Currently, the clinic takes care of 37 kids, 5 of them are infants and toddlers, 28 of them are attending grade schools and 4 are college students.

The clinic has two major teams, the medical team, and the educational team, with two directors, 12 nurses and counselors, and two security guards to take turns to provide 24/7 care for the children. Since 2018, GSVA has been committed to supporting the clinic in various projects, such as providing desktops and study desks to middle school children, purchase of a freezer and a washer at the clinic, sponsoring cooking events such as cooking lessons and food decoration contests. The clinic always welcomes visitors and supporting of their medical treatment and educational programs.
